Moong Dhal Pulao recipe - How to make Moong Dhal Pulao

To Be Blended Into A Smooth Paste
4 to 5 green chillies
1/4 cup grated coconut
of ginger (adrak)
1 to 2 garlic (lehsun) cloves

Other Ingredients
1/4 cup green moong dal (split green gram)
1 cup long grained rice (basmati)
1 onion , sliced
1 tomato , finely chopped
2 tsp garam masala powder
salt to taste
oil for cooking
mint leaves (phudina) for garnishing
  1. Soak the moong dhal in enough water for atleast for 4hrs.
  2. Drain and keep aside.
  3. Heat the oil in a pressure cooker, add the onions and saute on a medium flame for few minutes or till it turns translucent. Add the tomatoes, mix well and cook for more 2 minutes.
  4. Add the prepared paste and saute till the oil separates from the corners.
  5. Add the moong dal and mix well.
  6. Add the rice and saute till rice get coated with the masala.
  7. Add 2 cups of water and pressure cook for 2 to3 whistles, or till the rice is cooked.
  8. Serve hot garnished with mint leaves.
