Milky Moong Dal Halwa recipe - How to make Milky Moong Dal Halwa

1/2 cup dehusked moong dal (split green gram)
1/4 cup ghee
1 cup milk
1/2 cup sugar
1 tbsp broken cashewnuts (kaju)
  1. Clean, wash and soak the moong dhal in enough water for 1 hour.
  2. Drain and blend in a mixer into a thick paste using very little water.
  3. Heat ghee in a broad pan, add the ground paste and saute on a medium flame till it turns golden brown.
  4. Heat the milk with sugar in a separate pan and cook till sugar dissolves.
  5. Add this milk to the fried dal paste and saute for 20 minutes and the ghee seperates.
  6. Add the fried cashews and mix well.
  7. Serve hot.
