Methi Batani Bhat, this is a combination of methi and peas with dash of masala, though simple very delicious. The coconut gives it a nice flavour.

Methi Batani Bhat recipe - How to make Methi Batani Bhat

Preparation Time:    Cooking Time:    Total Time:     Makes 4 serving

Ingredients
2 tbsp oil
1 tsp mustard seeds ( rai / sarson)
1 tsp cumin seeds (jeera)
1/2 tsp turmeric powder (haldi)
1/4 tsp asafoetida (hing)
2 to 3 red chillies
1 cup finely chopped fenugreek (methi) leaves
1/4 cup green peas
1/4 cup grated dry coconut (kopra)
1 cup rice (chawal)
salt to taste
1 tsp sugar
2 tsp south indian curry masala
water for cooking
Method
    Method
  1. Heat oil in a pressure cooker pan, add mustard seeds and cumin seeds.
  2. When the seeds crackle add asfoetida and red chillies.
  3. Add fenugreek leaves and saute till soft.Then add peas and rice.
  4. Add sufficient water to cook the rice.
  5. Add salt,sugar,curry powder and mix well and cook for 2 whistles.
  6. Allow the steam to escape before opening the lid.
  7. Serve hot garnished with grated coconut.
