Ingredients

For Masoor Dal Curry Soup
1 tbsp oil
1/2 cup sliced onions
1/2 tsp finely chopped garlic (lehsun)
1/2 tsp chilli powder
3/4 cup chopped tomatoes
4 tbsp masoor (split red lentil) dal
salt to taste

For The Garnish
1/4 cup cooked rice
lemon wedges
Method
    Method
  1. To make the Masoor Dal Curry Soup Recipe, heat the oil in a pressure cooker, add the onions and sauté on a medium flame for a 1 to 2 minutes.
  2. Add the garlic and chilli powder and sauté on a medium flame for a few more minutes
  3. Add the masoor dal and tomatoes and saute for 1 to 2 minutes.
  4. Add the salt, mix well and saute for 1 more minute.
  5. Add 2½ cups of water, mix well and pressure cook for 2 whistles.
  6. Allow the steam to escape before opening the lid.
  7. Blend the mixture to a smooth puree and then strain using a sieve.
  8. Transfer to a pan and boil for 5 to 7 minutes.
  9. Serve the Masoor Dal Curry Soup hot garnished with rice and lemon wedges.

Every time I feel like drinking a soup and don''t know which one, I make this one, all one has to do is put everything in a cooker, blend, boil and serve. I do not strain the soup though.
