Masaledar Chole recipe - How to make Masaledar Chole

Preparation Time:    Cooking Time:    Total Time:     Makes 4 to 5 servings

1 cup kabuli chana (white chick peas)
1/4 tsp coriander (dhania) seeds
2 tomatoes , chopped
5 to 6 green chillies
1/2 tsp cumin seeds (jeera)
2 tsp grated jaggery (gur)
2 tsp curds (dahi)
of ginger (adrak)
1 large potato , chopped
salt to taste
oil for cooking
chopped coriander (dhania) for garnishing
  1. Pressure cook the channa for about 8 to 9 whistles and keep aside.
  2. Combine all the ingredients except the chole, potato and jaggery and blend in a mixer to a smooth paste and keep aside.
  3. Heat 2 tsp oil in a pan, add the potatoes and saute till they turn golden brown.
  4. Add the grounded paste, chole and salt and mix well and simmer for about 10 minutes.
  5. Add jaggery and mix well and cook till the jaggery dissolves.
  6. Serve hot garnished with coriander and with rotis, nan's or rice.
