A rice dish with a sour tinge, mango pulao is prepared with raw mangoes or kairi.A south Indian speciality, mango pulao is delicious owing to a nice mix of ingredients like dals, coconut, sesame seeds and methi daana.

Ingredients

RICE-6 CUPS
salt to taste
TUMERIC POWDER-1/2 TSP
1 tsp cumin seeds (jeera)
RED CHILLES(WHOLE)-6GRATED COCIUNT-2CUPS
HALF RIPED MANGOES-6 PEELED &CHOPPED
125 gms ghee curry leaves
3 to 4 cloves (laung / lavang)
cinnamon (dalchini) and bayleaf (tejpatta)
2 red chilles for garnishing
coriander (dhania) leaves
Method


  1. 1. boil rice, salt and turmeric pwd until cooked.
  2. 2. combine cumin seeds , 3 red chilles, coconut and grind.
  3. 3. mix with mangoes and add to cooked rice with half ghee, set aside.
  4. 4. heat the remaining ghee, saute cloves, cinnamon, tejpatta, curry leaves and other 3 red chillis.
  5. 5. combine with rice mixture. garnish with coriander, curry leaves and red chilles.
