Mango Paani Pakodi

Raw as well as ripe mangoes are everyones favourite and so is chatpatta chaats. Then why not prepare a chatpatti chaat making use of both the mangoes. Chatpatta Mango Panni Pakodi can be prepared much in advance and later enjoyed chilled with friends and family in this terrible hot hot summers.

Mango Paani Pakodi recipe - How to make Mango Paani Pakodi

Preparation Time:    Cooking Time:    Total Time:     Makes 5 serving

for the pakodi
1 raw mango peeled and grated
3/4 cup yellow moong dal (split yellow gram) , soaked fro 2 hours
1 tbsp ginger-green chilli paste
2 tbsp coriander (dhania) leaves
1 1/2 tsp sugar
1/4 tsp baking soda
1 tsp oil +
oil for deep frying
salt to taste

For The Paani
1 ripe alphonso mango pulp
1/2 raw mango peeled and chopped
2 1/2 glasses of water
1 tsp chaat masala powder
3/4 tsp black salt (sanchal) powder
3/4 tsp roasted cumin seeds (jeera) powder
1 tsp green chilli paste
3/4 tsp ginger (adrak) paste
a few mint leaves (phudina) , finely chopped
2 tsp sugar
salt to taste
  1. For the pakodi
  2. Drain the soaked yellow moong dal and blend in mixer along with ginger-green chilli paste. Add the remaining ingredients mix well. Heat oil in a kadai, drop small spoonfuls of the dal mixture and deep-fry till golden brown in colour. Keep aside.

  1. Boil raw mango pieces in enough water, cool and blend to a fine puree in a mixer.
  2. Transfer the raw mango puree into a deep bowl, add the remaining ingredients and mix well.
  3. Taste and adjust the seasonings.

  1. Add fried pakodis to the paani and keep refrigerated for 1-2 hours to chill, then serve chilled.
