Mango Dhal recipe - How to make Mango Dhal

1/2 cup moong dal (split green gram) (split green gram , cooked
1 raw mango , peeled and finely chopped
salt to taste
1/2 tsp turmeric powder (haldi)
1 tsp oil
1/2 tsp mustard seeds ( rai / sarson)
1/4 tsp asafoetida (hing)
a few curry leaves (kadi patta)
2 whole dry kashmiri red chillies
finely chopped coriander (dhania) for garnishing
  1. Combine the dal and mangoes in a deep pan and mix well. Cook on a slow flame for 1 minutes.
  2. Add the salt and turmeric powder and mix well. Cook on a medium flame, till the mangoes becomes soft and tender.
  3. For the tempering, heat the oil in a pan, add the mustard seeds.
  4. When the seeds crackle, add the asafoetida and curry leaves, red chillies and mix well.
  5. Add the tempering to the dal and mix well.
  6. Garnish with coriander leaves.
  7. Serve hot.
