Layered tikki Chole bake is layered snack recipe which can also be enjoyed as light meal. The potato based tikkis or flat cutlets are topped with boiled Chole or chickpeas, vegetables, cheese and chopped coriander leaves and then enjoyed with any sweet or spicy chutney of choice.

Method


Potato layer:

    Potato layer:
  1. Heat oil.
  2. Add cumin and onions and fry lightly.
  3. Add potato and fry on a low flame for 5 minutes.
  4. Remove from fire, cool and add the rest of the ingredients. and keep aside.

Chole layer:

    Chole layer:
  1. Clean and soak chole overnight.
  2. Pressure-cook till done.
  3. Heat oil, add cumin.
  4. When it splutters, add onions and fry till brown.
  5. Add ginger-garlic paste and fru well.
  6. Add all the masala powders, except garam masala and saute for a few seconds.
  7. Add tomato puree and salt and fry till oil floats on top. add the cooked chole, green chillies, mint leaves

To assemble:

  1. Grease a baking dish.
  2. Sprinkle half the breadcrumbs.
  3. Divide the potato mixture into 3 portions.
  4. Divide the chole mixture into 2.
  5. Spread a portion of potato over the breadcrumbs.
  6. Spread a chole layer over the potato.
  7. Dot with date and green chutneys.
  8. Repeat the layers, finishing with the potato layer. dot the top with the 2 chutneys.
  9. Place the onion.
