For The Koftas
125 gms grated processed cheese
50 gms cornflour
1/2 tsp freshly ground black pepper powder
oil for deep frying

For The Gravy
250 gms onions , grated
200 gms tomatoes , pureed
2 tsp ginger (adrak) paste
1/2 tsp chilli powder
1/2 tsp garam masala
200 gms oil
salt to taste
For the koftas

  1. Combine all the ingredients in a bowl and mix well.
  2. Divide the mixture into small equal portions and shape them into small round kebabs.
  3. Heat the oil in a kadhai and deep fry the koftas till they turn golden brown and crisp from all the sides.
  4. Drain on an absorbent paper and keep aside.

For the gravy

  1. Heat the oil in a pan, add the onions and saute till they turn golden brown.
  2. Add the ginger and saute for 20 seconds.
  3. Add the tomatoes, turmeric, red chilli and garam masala and saute on a slow flame till the oil leaves the sides.
  4. Add enough water and boil for 5 minutes.

How to proceed

  1. Add the koftas just before serving and boil for a further 2 minutes.
  2. Serve hot with parathas or tandoori rotis.
