Kobbarikaya pachadi or coconut chutney is a traditional way of preparing the popular coconut based chutney by blending together grated coconut and tempering it with mustard seeds and curry leaves.
- Combine the coconut, tamarind, green chillies, salt, sugar, turmeric and red chilli powder and blend in a mixer using 1 cup water. Keep aside.
- Heat the oil in small pan and add the mustard seeds, cumin seeds, urad dal and chana dal.
- When the seeds crackle, add the red chillies and curry leaves and saute for 10 seconds.
- Add this tempering to the pachadi, mix well and store refrigerated.
- Use as required.
