Kobbarikaya pachadi or coconut chutney is a traditional way of preparing the popular coconut based chutney by blending together grated coconut and tempering it with mustard seeds and curry leaves.

  1. Combine the coconut, tamarind, green chillies, salt, sugar, turmeric and red chilli powder and blend in a mixer using 1 cup water. Keep aside.
  2. Heat the oil in small pan and add the mustard seeds, cumin seeds, urad dal and chana dal.
  3. When the seeds crackle, add the red chillies and curry leaves and saute for 10 seconds.
  4. Add this tempering to the pachadi, mix well and store refrigerated.
  5. Use as required.
