A combination of two super grains, flavoured with deliciously sweet and iron-rich dates, the Jowar, Ragi and Date Porridge is a wholesome food that will keep your child satiated and active for at least a couple of hours.

Ingredients
1/2 tbsp whole jowar (white millet) , washed and drained
1/2 tbsp whole ragi (nachni / red millet) , washed and drained
2 dates (khajur) , deseeded
Method
  1. Combine the whole jowar, whole ragi, dates and ½ cup of water in a pressure cooker, mix well and pressure cook for 3 whistles.
  2. Allow the steam to escape before opening the lid.
  3. Blend in a mixer using ½ cup of water till smooth.
  4. Transfer the mixture into a broad non-stick pan, mix well and cook on a medium flame for 1 to 2 minutes, while stirring continuously.
  5. Cool slightly and serve lukewarm.

Whole jowar and ragi with dates are used to make this porridge. It''s quite a good variation to make porridge this way instead of making with flours. Dates make the porridge really sweet and flavourful.
