Jeerewale Aloo recipe - How to make Jeerewale Aloo

5 to 6 medium sized potatoes , cubed
2 tbsp oil
1/2 tbsp cumin seeds (jeera)
1/4 tsp asafoetida (hing)
salt to taste
2 to 3 garlic (lehsun) cloves , chopped
2 green chillies , chopped
1 tbsp lemon juice
chopped coriander (dhania) for garnishing
  1. Heat the oil in a pan and add cumin seeds.
  2. When the seeds crackle, add the asafoetida, potatoes and salt, mix well and sauté on medium flame for two minutes.
  3. Add the garlic and green chillies, mix well and cover and cook on a slow flame for 10-15 minutes or till the potatoes are cooked.
  4. Sprinkle a little water to avoid burning.
  5. Add the coriander leaves and lemon juice, toss and mix well.
  6. Serve hot with rotis.
