for the filling:
2 ozs.each of dried apricots (kummani / jardalu) , pears and dried figs (anjeer)
1 oz cherries
1 oz blanched and chopped almonds (badam)
3/4 cup honey
a pinch of cardamom (elaichi) powder
1/2 tsp cinnamon (dalchini) powder

for the dough:
1 3/4 cups plain flour (maida)
1/4 cup sugar
3/4 tsp salt
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp soda bi- carbonate
1/2 can of condensed milk
1 tbsp almond essence
1/2 cup chilled butter , cut into cubes

  1. Make filling:finely chop dride fruits. mix with cardamom & almond.
  2. Soak in honey ,cover & set aside.
  3. Make dough:mix flour,sugar& salt.sift mixture over surface.
  4. Make well in center.
  5. Combaine baking soda,soda bi-carbonate,condensed milk & extreat.
  6. Pour mixture into well.
  7. Place butter cubes around flour.
  8. Cut in butter in to dry ingredients until mixture resembles small peas.
  9. Quickly knead dough with hands.
  10. Roll out dough about 1/16"thick.using a 2"diameter biscuit cutter, cut out circles.
  11. Cut xs in center of half of circles;put 1 t.filling on other half.
  12. Press halves together.
  13. Place the filled pestries on lined cookie sheets, & bake in prehrated 350*oven for 12-15 minutes.
