Idli Manchurian with A Twist recipe - How to make Idli Manchurian with A Twist

10 to 12 small leftover idlis
oil for deep frying
2 tbsp oil
1/2 tsp mustard seeds ( rai / sarson)
2 tsp chana dal (split bengal gram)
2 tsp urad dal (split black lentils)
2 onions , finely chopped
2 tomatoes , finely chopped
3 tbsp chopped coriander (dhania)
salt to taste
2 tsp chilli powder
  1. Cut the idlis into small cubes and keep aside.
  2. Heat the oil in a kadhai, add the idlis and deep fry till they turn golden brown and crisp from all the sides.
  3. Drain on an absorbent paper and keep aside.
  4. Heat the oil in a pan and add the mustard seeds.
  5. When the seeds crackle, add the urad dal and saute till they turn golden brown.
  6. Add the onions and saute till they turn golden brown and crisp.
  7. Add the tomatoes and salt and saute till they turn soft.
  8. Add the red chilli powder, mix well and cook on a medium flame for 5 minutes.
  9. Add the fried idli and toss well.
  10. Garnish with coriander leaves and serve hot.
