A new and innovative version of toast sandwich using leftover idlis with cheese and chilli.It's tasty and healthy, both your children and elders would like and love to have the same as a snack.

Idli Chili Cheese Toast recipe - How to make Idli Chili Cheese Toast

Preparation Time:    Cooking Time:    Total Time:     Makes 4 serving

8 left over idlis
2 tsp minced green chili
3 tbsp plain flour (maida)
2 cups milk
12 tbsp grated processed cheese
4 tbsp butter
2 tsp minced garlic (lehsun)
oil for greasing
  1. Slice each idli horizontally into two parts.
  2. Grease a baking tray with oil.
  3. Brush the idlies on both sides with oil.
  4. Place them on the tray, cut side up.
  5. Bake it in a preheated oven at (200 C) till the idlis turns brown.
  6. Meanwhile melt butter in a non stick pan, add garlic and fry till golden brown.
  7. Add green chilies and fry for few seconds.
  8. Add flour and fry for 30 seconds.
  9. Remove from fire, stir in the milk, mix till smooth and cook stirring till the sauce thickens.
  10. 1Remove from fire, stir in half the cheese.
  11. Spread the prepared sauce over the idlis. and Sprinkle remaining cheese on top.
  12. Again bake till the cheese melts.
  13. Serve hot with mint chutney or tomato ketchup.
