Hyderabadi Toast is a chatpata chaat like open toast. Deep fried bread is layered with cooked and spiced potatoes, chutneys and sev. It's crunchy and delicious.

Hyderabadi Toast makes a nice party snack , as well as an exciting evening tea snack .

Ingredients
4 bread slices

For The Potato Mixture
250 gms boiled , peel and mashed potatoes
2 tsp oil
1/2 tsp mustard seeds ( rai / sarson)
1 tsp ginger-garlic (adrak-lehsun) paste
1 to 2 chopped green chillies
1 tsp lemon juice
1/2 tsp turmeric powder (haldi)
salt to taste
oil for frying

Other Ingredients
green chutney
sweet chutney
red garlic chutney
200 gms chopped onions
200 gms chopped tomatoes

For Garnishing
nylon sev
chopped coriander
Method
  1. Heat 2 tsp oil in a broad non-stick pan,add mustard seeds.
  2. When the seeds crackle add ginger-garlic paste, green chillies and turmeric powder.
  3. Add this tempering to the mashed potatoes. Add salt, lemon juice and mix well. Keep aside.
  4. Heat oil in a kadhai and deep-fry the bread slices till golden brown in colour.

How to proceed

  1. Divide the potato mixture into 4 equal portions.
  2. Place one deep-fried bread on a clean dry surface. Apply a portion the potato mixture evenly over it.
  3. Top with green chutney, garlic chutney and sweet chutney. Sprinkle some chopped onions and tomatoes.
  4. Cut the bread into two halves and garnish it with sev and coriander.
  5. Repeat steps 2 to 4 to make 3 more toast.
  6. Serve immediately.
