Hara Bhara recipe - How to make Hara Bhara

1 1/2 cups chopped spinach (palak) leaves
1/2 cup chopped cabbage
1/2 cup turnip
1/2 cup chopped tomatoes
3 to 4 cloves of garlic (lehsun), chopped
1 tbsp butter
1/4 tsp black pepper (kalimirch) powder
salt to taste
3 cups water
2 tbsp fresh cream or Malai

  1. Wash and chop spinach,cabbage, turnip & tomato. keep aside.
  2. Heat butter and stir fry chopped garlic till it turns light brown.
  3. Add chopped vegetables and fry for a min.
  4. Add water and pressure cook for atleast 2-3 whistles or till vegetables are fully cooked.
  5. Bring the mixture to room temp. and seive the soup through strainer.
  6. Grind the vegetable pulp in the mixer and pass the mixture through strainer to acheive a smooth paste.
  7. Add this paste to the soup.
  8. (this is the best nutritious way to thicken the soup).
  9. Boil the soup. add salt & pepper.
  10. Serve hot with a dash of cream on top.
