A sweet delicacy, the green gram halwa is made from boiled green gram or moong dal which is cooked with sugar and ghee till done and lumpy. Add chopped nuts as garnish and enjoy as dessert after meals.

  1. Heat a kadhai and roast the green gram till it turns into reddish brown in colour.
  2. Wash, transfer in a pressure cooked and add the milk and 2 1/2 cups water, mix well and pressure cook for 2 whistles.
  3. Transfer in the kadhai, add the sugar and mix well and saute till the mixture leaves the sides.
  4. Garnish with cashewnut and cardamom powder.
  5. Serve hot.
