Pulao or biryani has now days become necessary food for all. There are many varieties of pulao and biryanis. Here is green pulao, combination of rice with green paste.

Green Delicious Pulao recipe - How to make Green Delicious Pulao



Preparation Time:    Cooking Time:    Total Time:     Makes 4 servings

2 cups washed and soaked rice
2 cups chopped mixed vegetables
(french beans/ carrot/ green peas)
6 tsp oil
2 bay leafs
1 inch cinnamon (dalchini) stick
3 to 4 cardamoms (elaichi)
3 to 4 peppercorns (kalimirch)
2 small chopped tomatoes
1 small chopped onion
2 cups green paste , refer handy tip
salt to taste
  1. Put the mixed vegetables with 4 tsp water in microwave safe bowl and cover and microwave on HIGH for 2-3 minutes. Keep aside.
  2. Put the oil in another microwave safe bowl and microwave on HIGH for 30 seconds.
  3. Add the onion and microwave in HIGH for 2 minutes, stir in between once.
  4. Add the bay leaf, cinnamon, cardamom cloves and black pepper and microwave on HIGH for a minute
  5. Add the prepared green paste, mix well and micro on HIGH again for 2 minutes.
  6. Add the soaked rice, mix well and microwave on HIGH for a minute.
  7. Stir and add tomatoes salt and 4 ½ cups of water.
  8. Cover and microwave on HIGH for 10-12 minutes or till the rice is cooked.
  9. Stir in between once or twice.
  10. Give standing time of 2-3 minutes and then remove from microwave oven.
  11. Serve hot.

    Handy tip:
  1. You can use any mixed vegetables as per your choice.
  2. for the gree paste, combine the coriander leaves, phudina, garlic, green chillies and ginger and blend in a mixer till smooth. Use as required.
