1 1/2 cups orange segments
1 1/2 cups sliced apples
2 bananas, sliced
1 1/2 cups pineapple pieces
3 sweet limes (mosambi), seperated into segments
2 beetroots, chopped
1 medium head lettuce
50 gms powdered sugar

For the topping
4 tbsp pomogranate seeds (anardana)
3/4 cup roasted and chopped peanuts

To be mixed into a dressing (in a bottle)
4 tbsp salad oil
2 tbsp white vinegar
2 tbsp orange squash
2 tsp finely chopped roasted peanuts and cashewnuts (kaju)
1/2 tsp black pepper (kalimirch) powder
1/2 tsp salt
  1. Spread the lettuce leaves at the bottom of a large bowl.
  2. Then arrange a layer of any fruit or vegetable and sprinkle a little sugar on top.
  3. In this way, make layers of the orange and sweet lime segments, apple and banana slices, pineapple pieces and beetroot, each sprinkled with sugar (keeping aside some fruit and beetroot to make a colourful decoration).
  4. Decorate the top layer in any attractive manner e.g. an outer layer of orange segments, an outer layer of beetroot with pineapple in the centre. Sprinkle pomegranate seeds and nuts all over.
  5. Just before serving, pour the dressing on top.
  6. Serve cold.
