Notes and tips to make the perfect Indian style eggless chocolate cake using curds. 1. Combine the curds and soda bi-carb in a bowl and keep aside. This mixture becomes frothy in a few seconds and is the only raising agent we are going to add. Mix it gently using a whisk. The mixture should not be lumpy. 2. Be very careful when you are measuring the ingredients. Too much flour or sugar can alter the texture of your cake. 3. Now add the other half of the flour-cocoa mixture and mix well until no lumps remain. The batter should look smooth and velvety. 4. Dust baking tin with some flour and discard the excess flour. Greasing and dusting is done to prevent the Chocolate cake from getting stuck to the baking tin and make the process of unmolding easier. 5. Bake at 180°C for 40 minutes or until a knife inserted into the cake comes out clean. Do not poke the knife at the centre of the Eggless Chocolate cake using curds when you are checking. It might deflate the cake and make it dense.

Tarla Dalal    Hi Neitia, you can refer our recipe collection of eggless chocolate sponge for more options in baking. The measurement for ingredients depends on the recipe. For this recipe we recommend you to use butter to get similar results.

Hello Ma''am, will definitely try the recipe. Can baking powder be used instead of soda bi- carbonate ? If we use a microwave instead of an oven, what would be the baking time ? Regards

Tarla Dalal    Hi Panchali, baking powder and baking soda both have different uses in the cake and cannot be substituted with each other. This cake recipe is using an oven, for microwave recipe please follow the linkhttps://www.tarladalal.com/Eggless-Chocolate-Cake-Using-Microwave--(-Cakes-and-Pastries-)-33304r

I tried the recipe again. It was hard and crusty after 45 minutes of baking when the recipe calls for 60 minutes of baking. There is something seriously wrong with this recipe. Please correct it. I am quite a fan of Tarla Dalal recipes but there is something off about this one.

I tried the rectified recipe above. The cake did not turn out well. It was overly moist and the butter was floating all around. I think quantity of melted butter used should be reduced to 3/4th or 2/3rd cup. Please confirm. Thank you.

Tarla Dalal    Hi Divya, We have used 1 cup butter only. This is a tried and tested recipe from our kitchen and it really works out. Mix together all the ingredients well with a spatula so the butter does not float.
