Dapka kadhi is scrumptious yogurt dish which is not only light but simple to cook. Is also known as Pakoda Kadhi. Fried gram flour fritters (pakora) simmered in sweet and tangy yogurt gravy.

Dapka Kadhi 1 recipe - How to make Dapka Kadhi 1

Preparation Time:    Cooking Time:    Total Time:     Makes 4 serving


For The Pakoda
1/2 cup besan (bengal gram flour)
3 tbsp finely chopped coriander (dhania) leaves
1 green chili , finely chopped
1/2 tsp carom seeds (ajwain)
a pinch asafoetida (hing)
1/4 tsp baking soda
salt to taste
oil for deep frying

For The Kadhi
1 cup curds (dahi)
1 1/2 cups water
1 tbsp besan (bengal gram flour)
1 green chili , finely chopped
1/2 tsp ginger (adrak) , grated
1/2 tsp turmeric powder (haldi)
1/2 tsp red chili powder
1 tbsp sugar
salt to taste
for tempering
1 tbsp oil
4 to 5 curry leaves (kadi patta)
1/4 tsp cumin seeds (jeera)
2-3 clove (laung / lavang)
For the Pakoda

    For the Pakoda
  1. Add gram flour and all the ingredients in a mixing bowl with enough water to make soft dough.
  2. Heat the oil in a kadai, Drop teaspoonfuls of the pakoda mixture into it and deep-fry the pakodas over a medium flame till they are golden brown.
  3. Remove and drain on absorbent paper. Keep aside.

For the Kadhi

  1. In big bowl, mix bengal gram flour and yogurt with water till smooth so that no lumps remains.
  2. Add green chili, ginger paste, turmeric powder, red chili powder, salt and sugar, mix well and keep aside.
  3. Heat oil in non stick pan
  4. Add cumin seeds when the seeds crackles add clove and curry leaves
  5. Add tempering to kadhi, and bring it boil.
  6. Simmer for a 5 minutes stirring continuously.
  7. Add fried pakoda to it and simmer for 1 minute.
  8. Serve hot with steamed rice, chapati or paratha.
