Chocolate Dumplings recipe - How to make Chocolate Dumplings

Ingredients

For The Chocolate Sauce
3/4 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup cocoa powder
1 tbsp cornflour
a pinch salt
2 cups water
2 tbsp butter

For The Dumplings
1 cup plain flour (maida)
2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 cup sugar
2 tbsp cocoa powder
3 tbsp butter
1 egg , lightly beaten
1/3 cup milk
1 tsp vanilla essence
whipped cream or ice cream to serve
Method
For the Chocolate Sauce

    For the Chocolate Sauce
  1. In a heavy skillet, combine the brown sugar, cocoa, cornflour and salt.
  2. Add water and whisk well and cook while stirring constantly, until mixture begins to boil and thicken slightly.
  3. Add butter and mix well.
  4. Remove sauce from heat while make dumplings. Keep aside.

  1. Combine the flour, baking powder, salt, sugar and cocoa powder and sieve well.
  2. Add the butter and mix well till the mixture looks like bread crumbs.
  3. Combine the egg, milk and vanilla essence and mix well.
  4. Add the flour mixture gradually and mix well.

How to proceed

    How to proceed
  1. Return skillet to heat, bring the chocolate sauce to boil.
  2. Drop dumplings by spoonfuls into hot sauce.
  3. Reduce heat to low; cover and simmer 20 minutes.
  4. Serve warm with whipped cream or ice cream.
