Ingredients

1 1/3 cups plain flour (maida)
2 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp baking soda
3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1/8 tsp salt
3 tbsp butter , softened
1 1/2 cups white sugar
2 eggs
3/4 tsp vanilla extract
1 cup milk

Method

Line a muffin tray with paper or foil liners. And keep aside.
Sift together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, cocoa and salt. Keep aside.
In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
Add the eggs one at a time, beating well with each addition, then stir in the vanilla. Add the prepared flour mixture alternately with the milk; beat well and fill in the greased and lined muffin cups till 3/4 full.
Bake in a pre- heated oven at 170 ºC for 15 to 17 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the cake comes out clean.
Frost with your favorite frosting when cool.
