Chocolate coated couscous cake is a cous cous cake recipe which is topped with a creamy delicious chocolate sauce. The cous cous cake prepared from couscous, cream and sugar. It is placed in a greased cup and topped with an easy to prepare chocolate sauce.

For the couscous cake
200 gms broken wheat (dalia)
75 ml / 2 1/2 fl oz. double cream
1 tbsp cocoa powder
1 1/2 tbsp icing sugar
butter for greasing

For the chocolate sauce
3 tbsp cocoa powder
3 tbsp icing sugar
75 ml / 2 1/2 fl oz milk
2 tsp boiling water

To serve
1 tbsp curds (dahi)
fresh mint sprig
icing sugar , to dust

  1. For the couscous cake, place the couscous, cream, cocoa powder and icing sugar into a small saucepan over a medium heat and stir until thickened.
  2. Spoon the couscous mixture into a greased cappuccino cup and press down, then turn out onto a serving plate.
  3. For the chocolate sauce, place all of the chocolate sauce ingredients into a small saucepan over a low heat and whisk to combine. bring up to the boil, then reduce the heat and simmer for six minutes, whisking frequently to thicken. add a little boiling water to loosen the mixture if it becomes too thick.
  4. To serve, pour the sauce over the couscous cake and garnish with the yoghurt, mint sprig and a dusting of icing sugar.
