Chennar Jaliipi recipe - How to make Chennar Jaliipi

750 gms paneer (cottage cheese)
150 gms semolina (rava)
1 tsp ghee
ghee for deep frying
250 gms sugar
1 cup water
100 gms castor sugar
12 raisins (kismis) , soaked and dried
2 black cardamoms , peeled and seeds crushed
200 gms mava (khoya)
1 kg sugar dissolved in 1 litre milk
  1. Combine the sugar and water and boil till the syrup becomes thick. Keep aside.
  2. Combine the paneer, semolina and a tsp ghee and knead into a smooth dough using milk with sugar.
  3. Divide the mixture into approximate 20 portions.
  4. Fill the paneer mixture in a pastry bag using a pasty nozzle, pipe out whirls on the back of a slotted spoons.
  5. Heat the ghee in a kadhai, fry the whirls of chhana two or three at a time until quite brown.
  6. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on an absorbent paper.
  7. Immerse in prepared syrup leaving for an hour and a half.
  8. Serve with syrup.
