A crispy rava cheese snack recipe which are basically cheese waffles with corn, tomatoes and semolina. A crispy snacky item, cheese snacks are tongue tickling and bet eaten as soon as they are made.

Preparation Time:    Cooking Time:    Total Time:     Makes 2 waffles


1/2 cup semolina (rava / sooji)
1 cup urad dal (split black lentil) flour
1 tbsp curds (dahi)
1 tsp green chillies , finely chopped
1/2 tsp cumin seeds (jeera) powder
1/4 tsp asafoetida (hing)
1 tbsp chopped coriander (dhania)
1/2 tsp fruit salt
1 tbsp oil
salt to taste

To Be Mixed Into A Topping
1 cup boiled sweet corn kernels (makai ke dane)
1/2 cup finely chopped capsicum
2 tomatoes , deseeded and finely chopped
1/2 cup grated mozzarella cheese or grated processed cheese

    How to proceed
  1. Combine the semolina, urad dal flour, curds, green chillies, cumin seeds, asafoetida, coriander, oil, salt and approximately 1 cup of water.
  2. Mix well to get a smooth batter.
  3. Add the fruit salt and mix gently.
  4. Pre-heat a waffle iron.
  5. Lightly grease the waffle iron with some oil, pour ½ of the waffle batter and spread evenly.
  6. Cook for 2 minutes or until the waffle is golden brown.
  7. Sprinkle half of the topping mixture on the waffle and warm it up in an open waffle iron for 1 to 2 minutes or until the cheese has melted.
  8. Repeat with the remaining batter and ingredients, to make one more waffle.
  9. Serve hot.
