Chatpati Bitter Gourd Bhujiya recipe - How to make Chatpati Bitter Gourd Bhujiya

1 medium sized bitter gourd (karela)
1/2 cup grated onions
2 chopped green chillies
1 tbsp ghee
2 tsp chopped garlic (lehsun)
1/2 cup chopped tomatoes
a pinch of chaat masala
2 tsp lemon juice
a pinch of turmeric powder (haldi)
chilli powder to taste
salt to taste
  1. Peel and grate bottle gourd, put in pressure cooker with 1 tsp water and steam for 1 whistle.
  2. Cool and drain out all water by squeezing the boiled gourd.
  3. Heat the ghee in a kadhai, add the onions and garlic and saute till they turn crispy and brown in colour.
  4. Add the turmeric powder, red chillies, green chillies and salt and saute for more 2 minutes.
  5. Add the boiled gourd, mix well and cook for 3 minutes on medium flame.
  6. Add the dried mango powder, mix well and cook for anoher 1 minute and add the lemon juice.
  7. Serve hot.
