Chatpati Aam Ki Chutney recipe - How to make Chatpati Aam Ki Chutney



Preparation Time:    Cooking Time:    Total Time:     Makes 4 serving

1 cup boiled raw mangoes pieces without skin
1/2 cup grated jaggery (gur)
1 tbsp oil
1 tbsp chana dal (split bengal gram)
1 tbsp urad dal (split black lentils)
1 tsp pepper
1 tbsp red chilli powder
1/2 tsp turmeric powder (haldi)
1 tbsp cumin seeds (jeera)
1 tbsp white sesame seeds (til)
1/4 cup grated coconut
salt to taste

For Tempering:
1 tsp oil
1 tsp mustard seeds ( rai / sarson)
1/4 tsp asafoetida (hing)
4-5 curry leaves (kadi patta)
1-2 broken red chilli
water as required
  1. Heat 1 tbsp oil in a pan and add chana dal, urad dal and roast till pink.
  2. Then add pepper,cumin seeds and fry till cumin releases an aroma.
  3. Then add turmeric and sesame seeds and saute till sesame crackles.
  4. Keep aside to cool.
  5. Once cooled put it in a mixer jar and add grated coconut and grind to paste adding little water and keep aside.
  6. Heat little oil in a pan and put mustard seeds and allow to crackle. Add asafoetida, curry leaves and red chillies.
  7. Add boiled mango pieces and jaggery and cook till jaggery dissolves.
  8. Then add the prepared paste,red chilli powder,salt and cook till the mixture is thick.
  9. Take off the flame and serve with roti, paratha, naan, idlis and dosas.
