This is a rice recipe with a Chinese touch. Manchurian is an all time favourite recipe but this time try out with rice!

Chatpata Rice Manchurian recipe - How to make Chatpata Rice Manchurian

For The Manchurian Balls:
1 cup cooked rice (chawal)
3 tbsp cornflour
salt to taste
2 tbsp ginger-green chilli paste
3 tbsp grated cabbage
1/4 tsp baking soda
oil for deep frying

For The Gravy
2 tbsp oil
1 tsp chopped green chillies
1 tbsp red chilli paste
1 tsp soy sauce
1 tbsp tomato ketchup
2 tbsp coriander (dhania)
1 tbsp grated cabbage
2 tbsp boiled french beans
1 tbsp cornflour mixed with 2 tbsp water
For the Manchurian balls

  1. In a bowl mix all the ingredients except oil and add little water to make bhajiya type batter.
  2. Now heat oil in a pan and make small bhajiyas and deep fry till golden and keep aside.

For the Manchurian gravy

  1. Now heat oil in a pan and add chilly and grated cabbage and sauté.
  2. Then add soya sauce, red chilly paste, coriander, French beans, corn flour slurry, ketchup and mix well.
  3. Now add the bhajiyas and 1/2 cup of water and cook till thick.
  4. Serve hot garnished with coriander.
