Chana Dal with Vegetables recipe - How to make Chana Dal with Vegetables

250 gms chana dal (split bengal gram)
2 potatoes , chopped
1/4 cup fresh green peas
1/2 cup cauliflower florets
1 tbsp oil
2 onions , chopped
a pinch sugar
1 tsp ginger (adrak) paste
1 tsp garlic (lehsun) paste
2 tomatoes , chopped
3 tbsp tomato puree
1/2 tsp red chilli powder
1 tsp coriander (dhania) seeds powder
salt to taste
  1. Clean, wash and pressure cook the chana dal along with turmeric , salt and all the vegetables, except the onions and tomatoes, and enough water for 5-6 whistels.
  2. Allow the steam to escape before opening the lid.
  3. Keep aside.
  4. Heat the oil in a pan, add the onions and a pinch of sugar , mix well and saute till the onions turn soft and golden brown.
  5. Add the ginger and garlic paste, mix well and saute for 2 minutes.
  6. Add the tomatoes and tomato puree, mix well and cook for 2 minutes.
  7. Add the remaining ingredients, mix well and saute for 4 minutes or till the oil leaves the sides.
  8. Add the dal, mix well and cook for 2-3 minutes.
  9. Serve hot.

i love food specially healthy food less oil , no butter less calorie cuisine but sometimes good deli...
