Carrot halwa or gajar ka halwa is a north indian sweet dish prepared from grated gajar(or carrots) cooked with sugar, ghee and spices like cardamom. A delicious dessert dish which can be served as a snack or after meal sweet! gajar ka halwa is a favorite dessert served i north india during winters garnished with chopped nuts.

Preparation Time:    Cooking Time:    Total Time:     Makes 4 servings

3 cups grated carrot
1 1/2 cups milk
1/2 cup cream
4 tbsp condensed milk
sugar to taste
2 tsp cardamom (elaichi) powder
sliced almonds (badam) for garnishing
  1. Combine the milk and condensed milk with the carrot and cook on a slow flame till the carrot is tender.
  2. Add the cream and ghee, mix well and cook till the carrots are cooked.
  3. Add the cardamom powder and mix well.
  4. Serve hot garnished with almonds.
