2 cups left over toovar dal
2 onions, chopped
1 tomato, chopped
1/2 cup semolina (rava)
2 tbsp sambhar powder
salt to taste
1/2 tsp sugar
tamarind (imli) water to taste
a few curry leaves (kadi patta)
1 tsp mustard seeds ( rai / sarson)
2 tbsp oil
ghee to taste

  1. Take a kadai add oil and when it is heated add mustard and curry leaves add chopped onions and saute till they become transperent add sugar this enhances the taste of onions add the cooked dhal and pour enough water to get the consistency when it starts boiling add salt,tamarind juice and sambar powder,go on adding fried semolina little by little
  2. Semolina of medium size is perfect
