A typical continental fare, banana flambe is banana slices fried in butter and then served hot with vanilla ice cream. Any liquor of choice may also be flamed to add taste, aroma and flavour to this unique dessert recipe.
- Cut the bananas length-wise and place in a pan with the cut side down.
- Add the sugar, butter and microwave on high for 2 to 3 minutes, turning the bananas 3 to 4 times in-between to prevent them from becoming soggy.
- Just before serving, pour the brandy into a large spoon and warm on a flame. Set alight and pour the burning brandy over the bananas.
- Serve at once with sweetened cream or with vanilla ice-cream.
