This is a virtually fat free recipe for all low cal food lovers! Crispy baked papdis are delicious at any time of the day. You can spice up the dough, if you prefer, adding a little chilli powder and cumin seeds. I personally like them just plain. Again, I would suggest the you store large quantities in an air-tight container.

Baked Papdis recipe - How to make Baked Papdis

Preparation Time:    Baking Time:  15 minutes   Baking Temperature:  200°C (400°F)   Cooking Time:    Total Time:     Makes 40 papdis

Ingredients
1 cup whole wheat flour (gehun ka atta)
1 tsp oil
salt to taste
oil for greasing
Method
    Method
  1. Combine the whole wheat flour, oil and salt in a deep bowl, mix well and knead into a firm dough using enough water.
  2. Divide the dough into 40 equal portions
  3. Roll each portion into a 50 mm. (2”) diameter circle and prick them using a fork at regular intervals.
  4. Repeat step 3 to make 39 more papdis.
  5. Grease the baking tray with oil and bake the papdis at pre-heated oven for 200°c (400°f) for 10 minutes, turning once after 5 minutes.
  6. Store in an air-tight container. Use as required.

I made this with a small deviation. Instead of 1 cup Atta, we used 1/2 cup Atta and 1/2 cup Maida. Papdi was hard, but not crispy. Could you please advise. Should I use more oil in step-1? Should I add some soda in step-1? Please advise.

Tarla Dalal    We have not tried with half n half yet it should not be hard. No need to add soda.

Wow! These baked papdis are so easy. Thanks for the recipe. it is much better then the fried papdis and tastes so delicious. It is ideal for making sev puris or using in bhel.
