Bajra Thalipeeth recipe - How to make Bajra Thalipeeth

4 cups bajra (black millet) flour
2 medium onions , finely chopped
1 small cabbage , finely chopped
1 cucumber , finely chopped
1 capsicum , finely chopped
1 carrot grated
2 tsp ginger (adrak)
1 to 2 ts green chilli paste
2 tsp coriander-cumin seeds (dhania-jeera) powder
1/2 tsp turmeric powder (haldi)
1 cup finely chopped coriander (dhania) leaves
1/2 tsp carom seeds (ajwain)
2 tsp sesame seeds (til)
a pinch asafoetida (hing)
salt to taste
1 tbsp ghee
curd to serve
  1. Puree all the ingredients except flour, coriander leaves and carrots.
  2. Take bajra flour in a plate and add grated carrot and coriander leaves to it and mix.
  3. Now knead the flour with the puree to a slightly stiff consistency. Cover and leave for 5 minutes.
  4. Knead the dough again and divide into 8 equal parts.
  5. Take one piece and roll into a 6 inch diameter with the help of dry flour.
  6. Roast on medium heat on a non-stick tava till brown on both sides using a little ghee if required.
  7. Repeat the above procedure for remaining thalipeeths
  8. Serve hot with dahi.
