6 cups sliced, pared or unpared apples,
1 cup sifted flour,
1 cup sugar,
1 tsp. baking powder,
3/4 tsp. salt,
1 unbeaten egg,
1/3 cup melted and cooled shortening,
1/2 tsp. cinnamon.

  1. Place sliced apples in a greased 6 x 10 inch baking dish. mix together with fork until crumbly (the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and unbeaten egg). sprinkle over the apples. pour over all the melted, cooled shortening. sprinkle with cinnamon. bake 30 - 40 minutes in a moderate oven (350 degrees).
