American Halwa

Here is an easy to prepare and delicious dessert recipe, american halwa which is quite unique from the traditional halwas. The pistachios are sliced and roasted with butter and then blended with milkmaid or condensed milk along with dates and powdered sugar.

Preparation Time:    Cooking Time:    Total Time:     Makes 4 servings

200 gms pistachios
100 gms seedless and chopped dates (khajur)
4 tbsp powdered sugar
2 tbsp condensed milk
2 tbsp butter
  1. Cut pista in small pieces and keep aside.
  2. Heat the butter in a , add pista and dates and saute for 2 minutes.
  3. Add the condensed milk, mix well and remove from the flame.
  4. Remove from the flame and make rolls of the mixture.
  5. Roll them in powdered sugar and keep aside to cool.
  6. Refrigerate for 8 to 10 hours.
  7. Cut into desired shapes and serve chilled.
