Aloo ki khichri is a unusual khichri recipe which can be enjoyed on fasting days with raita or plain curd. The sama rice is cooked with potatoes in ghee along with spice powders and sendha namak. A delicious, healthy khichri recipe without any rice or lentils added.

Ingredients

Ingredients:
1 cup samwat /parsai ke chaawal, washed
2 tbsp (30 grams) ghee
1 tsp cumin seeds (jeera)
2 cloves (laung / lavang)
tiny piece cinnamon (dalchini)
2 cardamoms (elaichi)
1 large potato, cubed
2 tsp rock salt (sendha namak)
1/2 tsp chilli powder
3 cups water
coriander (dhania) for garnishing
Method

  1. Heat ghee, add zeera, laung, elaichi and daalchini. when slightly coloured, add potato and rice. stir-fry till they look a bit fried.
  2. Add salt, chilli powder and water, bring to a boil. lower the flame and simmer, covered, for about 15 minutes or till cooked through and the water is absorbed.
  3. Serve hot garnished with hara dhania.
