Main Course recipes

In any meal, the main course comprises the most filling and important part of the meal. The main course is served after the starters or snacks, and is followed by the dessert. It may be made up of a single sumptuous dish, or a combination of a couple of dishes. It is common to find Subzis, curries or Dal served with Roti, parathas or rice as part of the main course. On the other hand, dishes like biryanis, pastas, pizzas and baked dishes make up one-dish meals. When planning a menu, one must focus on the main course because it leaves a lasting impression on the diners, being the most comprehensive course of the meal.

Soya Vegetable Medley by Tarla Dalal
No reviews
Mixed vegetables and soya in a coconut based gravy a very thoughtful combination indeed! The dish can be cooked in very little time as all the veggies added are pre-cooked. Make sure the tomatoes are cooked well; otherwise the coconut milk will curdle.

Soya in Goanese Curry by Tarla Dalal

I bet even the goans would not have tried making their traditional fish curry with soya instead! and it tastes just fabulous. Cooking the onions on an open flame gives it a semi-charred taste which is very unique. Moreover, straining the tomatoes after cooking them imparts a good texture and flavour ....

Subz Korma by Tarla Dalal

Mixed vegetables in a red tomato-based gravy, this is a delicious low cal subzi with the goodness of lots of veggies and nutrient-filled soya chunks. It is not very apt to use whole soya chunks in Subzis as they look too big, and not all would like to eat big chunks… hence, chop them so that the sub ....

Ganthia ki Subzi by Tarla Dalal

A Gujarati specialty, this dish can be prepared even when no veggies are available. Its simplicity and great taste make it one of my favourite preparations. For the perfect experience, add the ganthia just before serving thus preventing it from becoming soggy.
