Vegetable manchurian, a famous chinese preparation recipe. Serves best with noodles.

Ingredients

2 cups grated cabbage
1/2 cup grated carrot
3 tbsp cornflour
oil for deep frying
1/2 cup chopped onions
1 tbsp chopped garlic (lehsun)
4 chopped green chillies
1 1/2 tbsp soy sauce
1/2 tsp sugar
1/2 tsp freshly ground black pepper powder
1/2 tsp m.s.g
salt to taste

Method
  1. Squeeze out the water from the cabbage and carrots.
  2. Add 2 tbsp cornflour, mix well and make a balls.
  3. Immediately deep-fry the balls till it turns to golden brown in colour. Remove on absorbent paper and keep aside.
  4. Heat the oil in a saucepan, add the onion, garlic and green chillies, saute it until the onions are transparent.
  5. Add the pepper, salt, ajinomoto, soya sauce, sugar and some water and bring to boil.
  6. In the remaining cornflour, add some cold water and make a paste.
  7. Add this paste to the boiling liquid and simmer it till it turns to thick gravy or sauce.
  8. Add the deep fried balls and simmer for 5 minutes.
  9. Serve hot.

Note

  1. After squeezing out the water, make sure that the grated cabbage and carrots are moist enough to shape into balls. If they appear too dry, add 1 beaten egg and make balls.
