Butter icing, also called butter cream, is a sweet mixture most often used to fill and decorate cakes including sandwich cakes, layer cakes and cupcakes. This icing can be used to coat cakes as well as pipe decorative designs on the cake.

Ingredients


100 gms icing sugar
50 gms butter or margarine
1/2 tsp vanilla essence

Method
  1. Sieve the icing sugar and keep aside.
  2. In a bowl, cream the icing margarine using a wooden spoon till it is light and smooth.
  3. Gradually, add the sieved icing sugar and cream till all the icing sugar is added.
  4. Add the vanilla essence and mix well.Use it as per the recipe.
