Upvaas Thalipeeth ( Faraal Recipe)

Giving an interesting twist to the regular maharashtrian thalipeeth, i have made it with a combination of rajgira flour and grated potatoes. Serve it with green chutney and fresh curds for a light and healthy meal.

Ingredients

1/2 cup rajgira flour
1/4 cup peeled and grated raw potatoes
2 tbsp roasted peanut powder
rock salt (sendha namak) to taste
1/2 tsp lemon juice
2 tbsp chopped coriander (dhania)
1 tsp green chilli paste
ghee for greasing and cooking

For Serving
green chutney
fresh curd

Method
  1. Combine all the ingredients along with 2 tsp of water in a bowl and mix well to make thick batter.
  2. Divide the batter into 4 equal portions and keep aside.
  3. Heat a non-stick tava and grease it lightly with ghee.
  4. Wet your fingers and spread a portion of the batter with it on the tava (griddle) to form a 100 mm. (4”) diameter thick circle.
  5. Cook, using a little ghee, till they turn golden brown in colour on both the sides.
  6. Repeat with the remaining batter to make 3 more thalipeeths.
  7. Serve hot with fresh curds and green chutney.

I made this upavas thalipeeth today.The result were very very good.My guest were very happy to have them with shrikhand.I made it little bit spicy and did add moraiyo (Indian Sawa millet) and sabudana flour and also little sesame seeds.But it turned out really good.

I tried this recipe with rajgira flour, shingara flour ( waterchestnut ), grated dudhi and other spices. It gave amazing taste, for my husband does not eat dudhi at all. But with this recipe he could not make it was dudhi in it. It was wonderful surprise for my hubby. Thanx a lot.
