Tomato Sauce (Microwave)

Ingredients


3 medium red tomatoes
1/2 onion, chopped
2 cloves of garlic (lehsun), crushed
1/2 tsp chilli powder
2 tbsp tomato ketchup
1 tsp cornflour, mixed with 5 tbsp water
1 tsp sugar
1 tbsp butter
salt to taste

Method

  1. Cut the tomatoes into big pieces. Put them into a shallow dish and microwave on HIGH for 4 to 5 minutes. Blend in a liquidiser and strain.
  2. Put the butter in a glass bowl and melt it by microwaving on HIGH for about 15 seconds.
  3. Add the onion and garlic and SIMMER (Cook Level 5) for about 1 1/2 minutes.
  4. Add the tomato puree, chilli powder, tomato ketchup, cornflour mixture, sugar and salt. Microwave on HIGH for 3 minutes, stirring in-between after every 1 minute.
