Tava Pizza

Its a very simple pizza which can be made quickly at home. I have made the pizza sauce at home in this recipe.

Preparation Time:    Cooking Time:     Makes 1 pizza


For The Pizza Sauce
2 tomatoes , boiled and peeled
1 onion , peeled and boiled
2 tsp chopped garlic (lehsun)
2 tsp grated ginger (adrak)
1 tsp red chilli powder
salt to taste
2 tsp cornflour dissolved in 1 tbsp of water

Other Ingredients ,
a 6" pizza base , readily available in the market
1/4 cup grated carrot
1/4 cup capsicum , cut into thin strips
2 tbsp thinly shredded cabbage
1/4 cup thinly sliced spring onions
1/4 cup thickly grated processed cheese
butter for cooking
chilli flakes

For the pizza sauce

  1. Combine all the ingredients, except the cornflour mixture, and blend in a mixer to a smooth paste.
  2. Heat a non-stick kadhai and cook the tomato-onion mixture on a medium flame for 3 to 4 minutes.
  3. Add the cornflour mixture, mix well (while stirring continuously) and cook till the sauce becomes thick.
  4. Keep aside to cool.

How to proceed

  1. Apply 1/2 portion of the prepared sauce on the pizza base and spread it evenly.
  2. Sprinkle the vegetables on top and sprad them gently.
  3. Spread the remaining sauce evenly on the pizza.
  4. Sprinkle the grated cheese evenly.
  5. Heat the butter on a tava and gently place the pizza on it, such that the bottom of the pizza faces tava.
  6. Cover the pizza with a deep vessel and cook on a medium flame till the base becomes crisp and the cheese melts.
  7. Serve hot with chilli flakes and oregano.
