Sweet potato halwa or a sweet dish prepared from sweet potatoes or shakarkand. The skinned and grated shakarkand are cooked with ghee and sugar and then served with chopped nuts and elaichi powder as garnish. A tasty and healthy energy rich farali recipe.

Ingredients

Ingredients :
250 gms sweet potatoes (shakarkand)
2 tbsp ghee
2 tbsp sugar
a handful of cashewnuts (kaju)
a handful of raisins (kismis)
Method

    Method :
  1. Pressure cook the sweet potatoes.
  2. Let it cool.
  3. Then peel the sweet potatoes, and mash them.
  4. Heat ghee in a kadai, fry the kaju and kismis and keep aside.
  5. To this ghee, add the mashed sweet potato.
  6. This in it self is sweet. so no need to add sugar(especially, when you fast you dont feel like having sweets).
  7. But you are fond of sweets, add the optional sugar.
  8. Keep stirring, for 10 15 mins.
  9. Get off the flame and add the fried kaju and kismis.
  10. Serve hot with sabudana wada.
