This easy-to -prepare snack is made from a popular Gujarati purple root vegetable, nutritionally similar to potatoes.

Ingredients



For the kand
750 grams kand

For the stuffing
1 teacup roasted split gram (daria), coarsely ground
2 tbsp chopped coriander (dhania)
1 1/2 tsp finely chopped green chillies
1 tsp lemon juice
a pinch asafoetida (hing)
1 tablespoon oil (for brushing)
salt to taste

Method
  1. For the kand, slice the kand thinly.
  2. Steam it until soft. Cool.
  3. For the stuffing, mix all the ingredients very well.
  4. To proceed, sandwhich the kand slices with the stuffing.
  5. Arrange the slices on a greased baking dish and brush lightly with oil.
  6. Bake in a hot oven at 200 degree C (400 degree F) for 15 minutes. Serve hot with sweet and sour chutney.
