Strawberry Praline Cake with Strawberry Sauce

Learn the secret of making tangy and fresh strawberry cake within minutes using biscuits, fresh fruit and orange juice. Makes 6 to 8 servings


For The Strawberry Cake
18 nice biscuit
3/4 cup fresh orange juice
200 gms chilled cream
3 tbsp powdered sugar
1 1/2 cups sliced strawberries

For The Praline Powder
3 tbsp sugar
2 tbsp cashewnuts (kaju) or pieces

For The Strawberry Sauce
3/4 cup crushed strawberries
7 tsp sugar
2 tsp levelled , cornflour
3/4 cup water
1/2 tbsp lemon juice
a few drops red colouring

For the strawberry cake

  1. Dip 6 biscuits in the orange juice and arrange on a plate.
  2. Whisk the cream with the sugar.
  3. Mash the strawberries, keeping aside a few for decoration. Add 3 tablespoons of the beaten cream to the mashed strawberries and mix well.
  4. Spread a little strawberry cream mixture over the biscuits.
  5. Make 2 more layers of biscuits and strawberry cream in this manner.
  6. Finally, cover the cake wih the balance cream. Chill.

For the praline powder

  1. Melt the sugar in a heavy saucepan on a slow flame.
  2. Add the nuts and mix well.
  3. Spread the mixture on a dish and allow to cool.
  4. Powder coarsely and store in a airtight jar.

For the strawberry sauce

  1. Mix all the ingredients and cook for a few minutes.

How to proceed

  1. Just before serving, arrange the remaining sliced strawberries on the cake and sprinkle praline powder on top.
  2. Serve cold with the strawberry sauce.
