Steamed fish is an unique fish recipe which has been steamed in true Indian style in banana leaves. A delectably mildly flavoured fish recipe which is low in calories and rich in heart friendly fatty acids.

Ingredients


Ingrdnts:
Fish fillets – 500gm;
1 tbsp vinegar
banana leaves (kele ka patta) to wrap the fish fillets
1 tsp oil
lemon wedges for decoration

For Masala:
2 tbsp fresh coconut
1 tbsp coriander (dhania)
6 to 8 green chillies , slit and deseeded
8 to 10 cloves of garlic (lehsun)
1 tsp chilli powder
1/2 tsp cumin seeds (jeera)
a pinch of garam masala
salt to taste

Method
Method:

  1. Wash the fillets and make horizontal slits on both sides.
  2. Sprinkle salt & vinegar and let it marinate for 10 mnts.
  3. Grind all the ingredients for the masala to a fine paste.
  4. Smear this paste on the fish fillets liberally and let it marinate for 20 mnts.
  5. Smear some oil on the banana leaves & wrap each fillet in a separate leaf.
  6. Steam the wrapped fillets for 20 to 25 mnts.
  7. Remove from the steamer, unwrap and serve hot with lemon wedges.
